Closing the Printer Tray on 2021

Many felt that 2021 would be a return to normal but the past year has been anything but for Tricerat. This year we established a great relationship with a local non-profit, adopted a four day workweek, and released multiple successful ScrewDrivers® releases/updates. Join us as we recap 2021 and dive into a look ahead at what is in store for Tricerat next year.

Tricerat Volunteers with Local Animal Shelter

Tricerat began partnering with Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) in 2021 to help our local community. Multiple members of our staff volunteered their time by walking dogs and performing data entry. We were even able to help put on the Litter Boxes Pints and Pizzas fundraising event for BARCS at the end of this year. Tricerat staff and local volunteers came together and built hundreds of disposable litter-boxes that BARCS will use for the thousands of cats they take in each year. We look forward to continuing our partnership with BARCS in 2022 and are even helping to plan some future events. Check back for upcoming event details to be announced next year.

Successful Four Day Workweek Implementation

Helping Baltimore’s four-legged friends wasn’t the only new thing we tackled at Tricerat this year. After working remotely/hybrid for most of the last two years, Tricerat switched from a five day workweek to a shortened workweek at the beginning of October. Management felt that the staff’s wellbeing and productivity would see positive impacts from this change. Three months into the switch and the staff is loving the four day workweek. Tricerat’s Lead Architect, Nick Nikitkin, said that “having every Monday off means I can have extra family time. Watching my son and daughter grow up is the best, so every extra minute I get of that is pure gold.” Tricerat is pushing ahead with the four day workweek and will continue with the model through 2022. You can learn what other members of the Tricerat team had to say in our recent blog.

ScrewDrivers® Development and What 2022 Holds

In 2021, Tricerat released ScrewDrivers® 7.1 along with regular maintenance updates through the year. Tricerat Support and Development are committed to our customer base, responding to requests from the field and rolling them over to production as quickly as possible. Through the year we made updates and improvements to ScrewDrivers Administration user interface, Advanced Print Feature capabilities, ScrewDrivers Scanning, driver management in ScrewDrivers Direct, performance improvements, IGEL distribution, Cameyo server support, and Gateway updates for non-windows clients.

Version 7.2 will release in early 2022 with feature updates as well as continuous enhancements requested by our customers. We look forward to releasing convenient and secure features such as native hold-and-release making it so that users can control when and where the print job is released for security or convenience purposes.

7.2 and beyond will have extended support for non-windows clients, including macOS, Linux, and mobile devices. The ScrewDrivers Endpoint Client is currently available for distribution through IGEL and other Linux-based thin clients and will continue to extend capabilities by incorporating ScrewDrivers Scanning for Linux. Versions in 2022 will also enhance cloud deployment options, including improved Azure SQL Database support, Azure Virtual Desktops, and Cameyo virtualization.

Above all, Tricerat values feedback from real-world use of our solutions, be it fixes or improvement updates. We will continue to embrace our core platforms including Citrix, VMware, and Microsoft to provide the best enterprise print management in a wide variety of environments. The ScrewDrivers virtual driver continues to be best-in-class for both administrator efficiency and user performance and productivity. We look forward to providing you with the best possible printing and scanning solutions into 2022 and beyond.
