This section details basic information about Simplify Suite such as installation, upgrading, how to, and frequently asked questions.
The Simplify Suite enables the administrator to deliver desktop, lockdown, printing, profile, and stability solutions to the users from a centralized management console known as the Simplify Console. The Suite was originally designed for terminal services, such as Windows Terminal Server and Citrix, but now Simplify Suite settings can be injected in any modern Windows environment. Every Windows machine with Simplify Suite points to a SQL database that hosts the configurations. The settings are streamlined down to the user's session at Log On using a SQL DSN ODBC entry.
Note: Since Simplify Suite computers are communicating with a SQL database, it is recommended to have a SQL server on the LAN as the clients. For multi-site environments it is recommended to use SQL Clustering to optimize performance, stability, reliability, and management.
This solution does not degrade the performance of the Windows environment, rather the Simplify Suite ensures that settings are delivered from a centralized location using efficient assignment processes. How efficient? Assignments made with Simplify Suite are performed at machine level, rather than relying on Windows commands, scripts, and Group Policies. Many components in the Suite are multithreaded, thus optimizing performance for multicore processors.
