Day Zero Technology Reduces the Cost and Complexity
of Deploying Windows Terminal Server Boosting Performance,
Security and Reliability
CITRIX iFORUM, ORLANDO, Fla. OCTOBER 4, 2004
– triCerat, a software development firm providing
applications that simplify and enhance the operation of
Microsoft® Terminal Server, today announced the beta
release of
Simplify Suite™ v4.
Simplify Suite gives Terminal Server and Citrix® MetaFrame®
Presentation Server licensees a single, integrated set of
applications that resolve and prevent problems associated
with common functional shortcomings in the native Terminal
Server operating system. It incorporates triCerat’s
Day Zero™ Technology, a software framework that for
the first time reduces the cost and complexity of deploying
and supporting Microsoft® Windows® Terminal Server
by enhancing its functionality, performance, and security
with little to no configuration.
The Simplify Suite beta incorporates a new architecture
and code base, built upon the latest Microsoft server technologies.
It features a new management console that centralizes configuration
and monitoring of all Suite functions, and also enables
delegated administration. To further reduce the complexity
and effort required for optimizing Terminal Server and Citrix
MetaFrame farms, the console will publish and consume system
monitoring information to and from other WMI-compliant management
consoles.
The initial Beta release will include the following modules
- Simplify Resources™ boosts application and server
performance by taking control of the way Windows allocates
and manages CPU resources – automatically. It dramatically
improves the user experience and increases the number
of sessions that can be effectively supported by individual
servers. The Beta release will include new memory management
capabilities that will further enhance application performance
and server reliability.
- Simplify Profiles™ streamlines the effort and
cost involved in managing user profiles and registry edits.
Replaces corruption prone roaming profiles with triCerat’s
unique hybrid profile, boosting system stability and user
satisfaction.
- Simplify Lockdown™ replaces Windows Explorer
with a lightweight, hardened desktop environment that
enhances server security and availability by preventing
unauthorized executables from running in Terminal Server
sessions – despite user behavior. Lockdown also
reduces the effort required for deploying and managing
published desktops by eliminating complex system policies
and registry hacks – increasing system stability
and performance.
- Simplify Printing™ lets anyone print to any printer,
using all printer functionality, from any application
hosted on a Terminal Server or MetaFrame Presentation
Server. Requires no server-side configuration, eliminates
the need for installing, managing or updating print drivers
on Terminal Servers, and speeds print jobs by compressing
print files.
- Simplify Data Transfer™ – Enables strong
compliance with data management and security policies
by efficiently controlling drive mapping and data flow
from client to server, from server to client or in both
directions by extending the drive letter mapping inherent
with Citrix ICA® or RDP.
- The Simplify Suite Beta program, open to current triCerat
customers and organizations licensing Terminal Server
as a stand-alone platform or in-conjunction with Citrix
MetaFrame is being launched today at Citrix iForum™.
Organizations not participating in iForum can get more
