Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, or VDI, is a hot buzzword in today’s tech world. However an administrator should consider if they really need a full desktop experience for their end users. In scenarios where an end user only interacts with a computer when using a program, such as some health care professionals, a full desktop experience is not necessary. Here application virtualization can bring a reduction of maintenance overhead, but not bring the costs potentially associated with a full VDI.
