Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows 7

Windows 7 has brought to rest a lot of the problems that Vista and previous Microsoft Operating Systems had created.  Many of the problems have been resolved by simply placing them into the keyboard.

Many keyboard shortcuts, not specific to Windows 7, have been that people have used over the years.  Here are a few that most Microsoft Operating Systems use:

Windows Key (Alone) - Opens the Start Menu.

Windows Key + D - Brings you to the desktop.

Windows Key + E - Launch's My Computer or Windows Explorer.

Windows Key + L - Locks your computer.

Windows Key + M - Minimizes all applications running.

Windows Key + Shift + M - Restores the minimized applications.

Windows Key + R - Opens the Run box.

Windows Key + F1 - Opens Windows Help and Support.

Windows Key + Pause/Break - Displays the System Properties.

Windows Key + U - Brings open the Utility Manager.

CTRL + C - Copy.

CTRL + X - Cut.

CTRL + V - Paste.

CTRL + S - Save.

CTRL + A - Select All.

Windows 7 has added a few keyboard shortcuts that will save the user a lot of time from clicking the mouse:

Windows Key + F - Windows Search

Windows Key + X - Mobility Center

Windows Key + T - "The Fan" Allows the user to "fan" through the open applications and chose which one they want to use.  A modern day Alt + Tab.

Windows Key + Left/Right - Aligns the window you are using to the left or right.  Used often for dragging and dropping files between folders.

Windows Key + Up/Down - Maximizes and Minimizes the window.

Windows Key + P - Allows the user to chose their projection/display options.

If you have things pinned to your taskbar, you can call upon them using the Windows Key and the number in which the application is posted on the taskbar.  For example, if you want to open Microsoft Word and it is pinned as the 4th application on your taskbar, hold Windows Key and the number 4 to open the application.

These keyboard shortcuts will amaze your co-workers and dazzle your friends.  Be sure to use them wisely.
