The worst snowstorms recorded in MD history were both in February 2010, only a few days apart and appropriately titled by President Obama, Snowmageddon. The 3-4 feet of snow brought travel to a halt for the entire state of Maryland and much of the Mid-Atlantic region. For other areas/regions and countries it was business as usual. A hero was needed. It came in the form of Citrix and RDP, allowing businesses, sales people and IT admins to continue to provide quality assistance and customer service from virtually anywhere in the world as if we were in the office. So whether stuck at home, because the streets have yet to be plowed, or stuck in a hotel or airport due to cancelled flights, an internet connection and a Citrix portal can put you anywhere you need to be when you can’t physically be there. For instance, after the first storm, I sat at my desk at home and logged into my computer at work. I could answer HEAT tickets, respond to e-mails, and edit documents on my computer. The true dilemma came when trying to print these documents while in this Citrix session between my computer at home and my computer at work. As always, I’d have to e-mail the document to my personal account, then log into my personal account outside of the Citrix session and download the attachment to my computer locally to print it. I thought how much MORE convenient would it have been to remain in that Citrix session, click print and have the document print right next to me at home? Printing in Citrix was always a tricky situation and, in certain situations, impossible. I don’t know how many times I heard “just do it this way” or “yeah, we’re not going to do that.” Never did I even think to inquire about the possibilities of printing in Citrix, because I had been so used to this “work-around.” A few months passed and here I am working for triCerat Inc. ScrewDrivers, triCerat’s golden child, provides the gateway to hassle-free printing through Citrix or RDP for companies with a multitude of environments. How much more productive and efficient could an employee be working from home with a complete solution designed to make things easier for the user and the network admin? ScrewDrivers offers the complete solution by eliminating the painful and tedious task of installing and maintaining drivers on the server. It handles the common issue of spooler crashing. It works with any printer that has a Windows-based print driver. Most admins may not even use the terms Citrix and printing in the same sentence. The thought of that is synonymous with the term “headache.” But I’m confident that ScrewDrivers is that last piece of the puzzle that specializes in providing users the complete solution wherever they are in the world. The beauty of it is that ScrewDrivers wouldn’t just make things easier for the admins but for employees, as well. It’s truly a win-win solution that just keeps on winning.
