Deploying ScrewDrivers and Citrix Combo with Web Interface 5.2.0

In certain versions of the Citrix Web Interface you can deploy a single Citrix and ScrewDrivers combination installer. This can be achieved by replacing the Citrix installer with the ScrewDrivers & Citrix Client combo installer. This is not supported in certain versions of the Web Interface due to incompatible naming conventions.

The current release of the Citrix Web Interface 5.2.0 supports this approach.

Follow these steps:

  1. Download and install Web Interface 5.2: http://www.citrix.com/english/ss/downloads/details.asp?downloadId=1858481&productId=186
  2. Create the Citrix client deployment directory. The Citrix Web Interface does not come pre-packaged with the client installs so you must manually setup this portion. Create the following directory if it does not exist: C:\Program Files\Citrix\Web Interface\5.2.0\Clients\Windows\Online Plug-In\
  3. Download the appropriate ScrewDrivers EXE Push Package: http://www.tricerat.com/sdclient.exe. Generally you want to use the XenApp Web version, but you have the option of using XenApp Full. After downloading it, rename it to CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe and place it in the Online Plug-In directory. Web Interface 5.2.0 is hardcoded to deploy this specific filename.
  4. Open and edit WedInterface.conf in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\citrix\AccessPlatform\conf. Find the following:

# ClientIcaWin32=Filename:CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe,Directory:Windows,Mui:Yes, ClassID:238f6f83-b8b4-11cf-8771-00a024541ee3

Replace it with

ClientIcaWin32=Filename:CitrixOnlinePluginWeb.exe,Directory:Windows,Mui:Yes,ClassID:238f6f83-b8b4-11cf-8771-00a024541ee3,Version:11.2

Find the second ClientICAWin32 entry, and place # before ClientICAWin32 to comment it out, as show here:

# ClientIcaWin32=ClassID:"238f6f83-b8b4-11cf-8771-00a024541ee3"

  1. Test the new Citrix Web Interface settings. To get an accurate test you want to remove all instances of Citrix and ScrewDrivers from your client. Additionally, if you have users with Citrix and/or Screwdrivers currently installed, you'll want to test the upgrade process.
