In my experience support Windows servers and Simplify Suite software, not a lot of people are aware that they can redirect their users folders to file servers. Here’s a cool little tidbit for system admins that are trying to redirect users folders to file servers or otherwise. I dug around in the registry and found the keys that will allow you to redirect any important folder over to any path you choose. Here is a key that will get you over to where you need to be. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

Now the cool thing about this is, it’s pretty simple to setup. Here’s a screenshot what the default setup might look like.

As you can see, you really can do a lot of stuff with this; you can redirect anything from the start menu to your appdata folder. All you gotta do is open up one of the values and put in the path of the file server that you want it to redirect to, and bam! It’s redirecting that data off the user’s computer. This exact trick also applies to the Simplify Profiles software, as it creates a registry there as well , you can do the same thing there! I hope this helped some people out so that they don’t spend time clicking through pages on google that don’t provide all the info on this.
