VDI or Application Virtualization

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, or VDI, is a hot buzzword in today’s tech world. However an administrator should consider if they really need a full desktop experience for their end users. In scenarios where an end user only interacts with a computer when using a program, such as some health care professionals, a full desktop experience is not necessary. Here application virtualization can bring a reduction of maintenance overhead, but not bring the costs potentially associated with a full VDI. Inexpensive thin terminals that do not need to frequently be refreshed can be put in place to receive your virtualized applications. As an added bonus the lower power consumption of thin terminals can help with any green initiative at your company.

If the full desktop experience is required in your environment you can still take advantage of application virtualization technologies, such a Citrix XenApp, Microsoft App-V, or VMWare ThinApp. Regardless of the environment you pick, triCerat’s Simplify Suite and ScrewDrivers can solves the profile and printing problems that may arise. Contact your solutions provider today to discuss which option works best for your company and how triCerat can help simplify the maintenance of your environment.
